
SUDAN: YOUTH-LED RALLY POSTPONED*

Sidwell Friends School and Survivors' Rights International
Host Youth-Led Rally to Raise Awareness of the Genocide and
Slavery in Sudan
To be held Thursday, October 18, 2001, 11 2 p.m. at
Freedom Plaza (Pennsylvania Ave. between 13th St. and 14th
St. N.W.)
The youth-led rally will be interactive with a variety of
activity and informational booths, musical performers, youth
and other speakers, free food, and free t-shirts to be
distributed to the first 500 students.
Survivors' Rights International, Inc. and the Sidwell
Friends students of Washington, D.C. invite other area
schools, youth groups, and colleges to attend and learn more
about the conflict in Sudan.

As part of this initiative, Survivors' Rights International,
Inc. is also declaring the week of Oct. 18, 2001 as a
Week for the Recognition of Genocide in Sudan.
Therefore SRI asks that other schools, college groups, and
organizations engage in similar events in their own
districts to host educational seminars or rallies, to
organize a letter writing campaign to their representatives,
or to publish articles in local newspapers that aim
to raise awareness of the conflict in Sudan and the need for
a just and lasting peace.
